Nigerian president Buhari appoints new acting Inspector General of Police

With immediate effect, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has named Usman Baba, a Deputy Inspector-General of Police, as the acting Inspector-General of Police.

Maigari Dingyadi, the Minister of Police Affairs, revealed this to State House correspondents in Abuja on Tuesday.

Baba will succeed Mohammed Adamu, whose term was extended by Buhari for three months on February 4th.

Out of the three-month extension, he has only spent around two months.

The current acting IGP, on the other hand, has held positions such as DIG Force CID and Force Secretary at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. He is a fellow of the International War College and a member of the International Association of Police.
